The Greater Princeton Youth Orchestra (GPYO) is a non-profit youth enrichment
program offering exciting and unique educational and performance opportunities
under the tutelage of an accomplished conductor, Maestro Fernando Raucci.
Highly talented, motivated, and serious about their musical training, the GPYO
members are able to master their skills as performers within a challenging, d
isciplined orchestral environment.
In 1962, the founders of the GPYO recognized the need for an extension of the
school curriculum in the form of this excellent youth orchestra. The GPYO
develops and trains skilled musicians, from grades 6 through 12, in the field
of orchestral and chamber music. The Greater Princeton Youth Preparatory
Orchestra admits students from grades 6 through 8. Master sectional classes
are routinely given.
The GPYO performs to large audiences with critical acclaim. The size and
proficiency of the member orchestra, drawn from over 25 different schools
around New Jersey, enables them to play many of the great symphonic
masterpieces.
The GPYO's 2003--2004 season finale will take place on May 15rd at Richardson
Auditorium, Princeton University. For ticket information, call 609-683-0150.
