Greater Princeton Youth Orchestra Featured at Hamilton Township's Septemberfest Celebrations



Princeton, New Jersey - The Greater Princeton Youth Orchestra will again perform a moving and patriotic concert at Hamilton Township's Septemberfest celebrations on Saturday, September 13th, at Veteran's Memorial Park, 2206 Kuser Road, starting at 7 P.M. (It should be noted that this time was changed, from its previously reported 8 P.M. start.) Fireworks immediately follow the concert at 8:30 P.M. Admission is FREE.

The special concert will include a variety of ethnic music and patriotic classical pieces. Some selections include Dvorak's Symphony No. 5 from The New World, Shostakovich's Festival Holiday Overture, as well as a compilation from Bernstein's West Side Story, Sousa's Stars and Stripes Forever, and Gould's American Salute. Through such inspirational and uplifiting music, this will also be GPYO's third consecutive year of paying tribute to the victims of the 911 terrorist attacks.

The Greater Princeton Youth Orchestra is comprised of the most talented and gifted young musicians, from grade 8 through college, in our area. GPYO is under the direction of Maestro Fernando Raucci, who is also Assistant Director of the American Symphony at Lincoln Center. Celebrating its 42nd year, the GPYO will be performing three concerts this season. In addition to the Septemberfest concert, the Greater Princeton Youth Orchestra will perform two major concerts at Richardson Auditorium, Princeton University on December 13th and May 15th. In addition, GPYO's prestigious Chamber Orchestra will offer two concerts at St. Charles Borromeo Church, in Skillman, New Jersey, on November 2nd and March 21st . The GPYO Strings Preparatory Orchestra, under the direction of Nathan Thomas, will hold concerts on December 6th and May 1st at the Unitarian Congregation Church in Princeton.
