Rehearsals & Performances

GPYO ensembles rehearse weekly from mid-September to early June. Formal public concerts are held at the end of each semester in January and June in Princeton University's magnificent Richardson Auditorium. Informal concerts are performed through the season at various local venues. Students perform two or three times per season. Advanced Chamber Orchestra additionally performs its own concert series.

The Senior Division (8th-12th graders) rehearses weekly on Tuesday evenings. The Senior Division includes Concert Orchestra, Symphonic Orchestra and Wind Symphony. (All high school winds participate in Wind Symphony and then may also be invited to play with Concert and/or the Symphonic Orchestra.) GPYO Music Director, Maestro Fernando Raucci, conducts both Concert Orchestra (5:45-7:45 PM) and Symphonic Orchestra (8-10 PM). Mr. Adam Wharshfsky, of Montgomery High School, conducts the Wind Symphony (7:30- 9PM).

The Preparatory Division (5th-9th graders), includes String Ensemble, conducted by Mrs. Elizabeth Hostetter, and Wind Ensemble, conducted by Mr. Kawika Kahalehoe. Both ensembles rehearse on Monday evenings, 6:30 to 8:30 PM.

Rehearsals take place at Montgomery High School's state of the art music facilities, in Skillman, NJ.
